Traffic cones were originally invented in 1914 by Charles P. Rudabaker. Though at first wrought from concrete, today's versions are more commonly brightly-colored rubber cones.
Yes, it warded off traffic for a while, but then my father felt paranoid about its illegal accuirance and released it back into the wild. (he put it next to a school road, and it was removed/stolen the same day)
